Emmanuel Amuneke’s boy struggled in the clash with Dario Baši?’s side, as they lost their first game despite taking the lead through Osimhen. Waploaded reports.


Croatia scored twice in the second half to seal defeat Nigeria 2-1 on Saturday morning, with goals from Karlo Majic and Josip Brekalo.

The Europeans came to the game on the brinks of elimination and came out smoky against group leaders Nigeria.


Croatia come dominated the early part of the game which saw they win four cornerkicks in the opening 10 minutes as the Eaglets’ defence were made to labour very hard.


Indeed, with the Nigeria – shorn of suspended striker Funsho Bamgboye and requiring just a draw – opting for a cautious approach, two counter-attacking sides largely cancelled each other out.
But it was always Dario Baši?’s team who had looked the most likely to secure victory, with their first triumph ultimately coming from two unlikely sources.

Victor Osimhen also gave Emmanuel Amuneke’s boys the lead after profiting from a well-built counter attack to slot past Croatia goalkeeper Adrian Semper before it struck the base of the goal post.

Not quite long, Osimhen after another impressive counter attack beat Semper to put his side ahead in the 20th minutes.


The Europeans seem to be charged by the deficit as they attacked in their numbers. They continued to dominate, and in the 39th minute Moro forced goalkeeper Akpan Udoh to a strong-free kick save.
Five minutes after the second half, Brekalo leveled scores after Moro wriggled his way along the Nigerian defense’s goal-line and found his team-mate on the back post.
