Nokia D1C renders surface; phone sports Snapdragon 430 SoC, 3GB RAM and Android 7.0

Nokia is expected to make its return to the smartphone game in 2017. A non-compete clause in the Microsoft purchase of Nokia Devices & Services prevented Nokia from producing a new smartphone until the current quarter. Most talk has been about new Nokia branded handsets being launched some time in 2017. To that end, we've already heard about a handset reportedly called the Nokia D1C. The model has already been run through AnTuTu and Geekbench with Android 7.0 running the show both times.

Today, renders appeared on Weibo that claim to show the Nokia D1C. The images reveal that the phone will be available in Black, White and Gold. The latter model includes a fingerprint scanner while the others don't. We do suggest taking these images with the proverbial grain of salt.

The specs from AnTuTu show that the Nokia D1C will carry a display with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. The Snapdragon 430 chipset drives the phone with an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 505 GPU. 3GB of RAM is inside along with 32GB of internal storage. On the back of the phone will be a 13MP camera, while an 8MP camera in front handles selfies and video chats.

This device obviously is not the flagship model that many were hoping to see out of Nokia's camp right off the bat. But even a company like Nokia might have to remember how to walk first before it can run.
