Why Nigeria Supporters’ Club will not be at Zambia match

The Super Eagles will not have their band of supporters cheering them on, when they tackle Zambia in a 2018 World Cup qualifier in Ndola on Sunday.
There are two rival factions of the Nigeria Supporters’ Club, but the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has decided not to travel with them, ordering the factions to sort out their issues.

According to a report in AfricanFootball, it took the intervention of the Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, to restore peace at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Saturday morning.

The rival factions rowed, as the players and coaches prepared to fly out for the match.

Dalung urged the factions to come together.

“I feel very, very bad we are not travelling with supporters, but I will feel too bad if my people are not united,” he said.

The Super Eagles’ chartered flight to Zambia took off at 6:24am Nigerian time with 126 people on board.

Dalung, NFF president, Amaju Pinnick and 2nd vice-president Shehu Dikko, were among those on board.
