Newly engaged first daughter of late enigmatic Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Yeni, has revealed her marriage plans.

Yeni who recently clocked 55 said she will be getting married to her longtime partner, Theo Lawason in 20 years’ time.

Recall that on May 24, Yeni got a surprise marriage proposal from Lawason and she had disclosed that the ring from her architect lover, was a sign of commitment to each other.

In a chat with Encomium, Yeni said, “We have fixed our wedding date.

“Twenty years from now. If we are still alive, we will send the IV out. Saturday, May 24, 2036, if we are alive. I am serious. We discussed it yesterday. I will send you the invitation.”

Speaking further, she said her daughter took the news of her falling in love in good faith.

She said, “My daughter was very happy for me. She didn’t ask to know further because she knows my thoughts about marriage. My own is not about marriage but about happiness.

“Some people are married but are not happy today and within a year, they are already divorced. So, what is the point? Happiness is more important than marriage,” she added.
