Niger Republic eliminate Golden Eaglets from U-17 AFCON, World Cup

Nigeria’s U-17 team has failed to qualify for next year’s U-17 Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA World Cup, after losing 3-1 to Niger Republic in the second leg of their qualifier.
The Golden Eaglets won the first leg 1-0 and needed at least a draw to progres into the third round of the qualifying series.

Manu Garba’s men will also not be at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in India.


Nigeria are the current defending champions, after winning the 2015 edition hosted in Chile.

It is the first time the Eaglets will be missing out of the U-17 AFCON, U-20 AFCON and the main AFCON events.
