Liverpool better than Bayern and Man City - they are like a symphony, claims Hojbjerg

Southampton's Denmark international midfielder considers Jurgen Klopp's Reds to be the most complete outfit he has come up against in his career

Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has credited Liverpool with being‘the best team'he has ever faced.

The 21-year-old Denmark international formed part of the Saints side which managed to contain Jurgen Klopp’s free-scoring troops on Saturday.

The Reds arrived at St Mary’s as the most fearsome attacking unit in the Premier League, but drew a blank on the south coast as their hot streak in the final third came to an end.

Hojbjerg, who played for Bayern Munich and had loan spells at Augsburg and Schalke before moving to England in the summer, helped to frustrate a side unaccustomed to being held at arm’s length, with a battling display from Southampton carrying them over the line.

The visitors had a total of 15 shots to Southampton's 3 over the 90 minutes. While they were unable to find the net, Hojbjerg was totally convinced of their ability.

“I played in Germany against Bayern Munich and Dortmund, I played against Manchester City in the Champions League, but I must say this is maybe the best team I have ever played against,”he told the Saints’ official website .

“It’s not only that they move the ball quickly.

They also have fast players, and with the ball they are very good one against one.

“It’s unbelievable how they move, how they stand, how they work together–it’s like a symphony.”

At odds with Hojbjerg's'symphony'comparison, Klopp has overseen a rapid reversal in fortune at Anfield, with his‘heavy metal’brand of football having helped to turn the Reds into an energetic outfit who give opponents no time on the ball and are able to express themselves through a heady mix of creative and destructive talent.

Liverpool now sit second in the Premier League, one point behind Chelsea and level with Man City after 12 games. They take on second bottom side Sunderland at home in their next game.
