Manchester Unitedmidfielder Michael Carrickhas withdrawn from the Englandsquad after suffering a groin injury.

The 33-year-old picked up the injury during training on Wednesday and will now return to his club, the Football Association has confirmed.

— England (@england) November 12, 2014Carrick will now miss the upcoming European Championship qualifier against Slovenia on Saturday evening and the friendly against Scotland the following Tuesday, with a replacement not immediately announced.
The midfielder last appeared for England in a World Cup qualifier against Poland over a year ago.
