The song achieved great success and spear-headed Khan’s solo career after leaving the group Rufus in 1979. It peaked at number twenty one (21) on the US Billboard Hot 100, at number one (1) on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and at number eleven (11) on the UK Singles chart.
In 1992, American singer Whitney Houston recorded her version of the song for the soundtrack of the movie The Bodyguard.
