Wikki Tourists’ Obaje not worried about Udoh’s NPFL record

Wikki Tourists’ Godwin Obaje, has insisted that he is not under pressure, to break or set a new goalscoring record, but would prefer to help his team win the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title.
The striker scored a brace in their 2-1 win over MFM FC, to take his tally for the season to 16, but he is still behind Enyimba’s Mfon Udoh’s 23-goal record.

Obaje was however happy to be scoring again and helping his team go top.

“First I’m happy to have gotten back to my goal scoring form, I’m not under any pressure to break or set a new record instead I’m more concerned to help my team to achieve our target to be the next NPFL champions,” he told Goal.

“Yes, if I score more than the 23 goals this season then it’s fine by me but the utmost target for the club is to lift the NPFL trophy.

“There are quality options in the team that will replace you if you fail to deliver so no one player is put under pressure. Our next match will be away to FC Ifeanyi Ubah and we are going there with a mindset to win.

“This is the business end of the season and the most important thing for us as a team is to play as one unit while we stay focused to our set target.”
