American soul singer Aloe Blacc provides vocals for the track.

Avicii wrote the song with Aloe Blacc, and co-produced it with Arash Pournouri and Mike Shinoda.

The folktronica song was released as the lead single from the album on June 17, 2013 and was met with great critical acclaim.

Wake Me Up peaked at Number 4 on the US Billboard Hot 100 but topped the charts in much of Europe, Brazil, Belgium, Austria and Australia.

It has been certified 13x platinum in Sweden, 9x platinum in Australia, 7x platinum in Norway, 6x platinum in the US, and multiple platinum in many other countries.

Due to the massive success of the song, Blacc later released an acoustic version in his solo EP Wake Me Up.
