Four policemen arrested in Adamawa over death of villager
Four police officers have been arrested in Adamawa State.
The policemen were arrested after being suspected of causing the death of a villager in Fufore Local Government Area of the State.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Musa Kimo, said in Yola on Thursday that the suspects, who were operatives of the state Anti Robbery Squad, were currently under investigation.
Kimo said during the launch of the Police Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit, that the four policemen were arrested following a report by the community.
He said the suspects were accused of harassing the villager to death for riding a motorcycle, which was banned in the state.
The police commissioner warned that the command would no longer tolerate any act of human rights violation, and would not tolerate any form of criminal activities.
He explained that the core objectives of the complain unit was to receive and solve all complaints of police professional misconduct emanating from policing activities.
