Rivers United want Ikorodu game moved

The Pride of Rivers have beckoned on the league organisers to shift their game against Oga Boys having escaped an auto crash on Thursday night
Rivers United have written to the League Management Company to shift their game against Ikorodu United following their involvement in an auto crash on Thursday.

Stanley Eguma’s men were billed the relegation-threatened Lagosians at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium on Sunday but are down having escaped a near death experience at Ndele, Rivers State.

17 members of the side were affected in the mishap with Yusuf Jaiyeola, Sope Hameed and team captain Festus Austin admitted at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital

“Yusuf’s situation is the most serious as he suffered a deep cut in the Achilles tendon which occasioned serious bleeding,” says team doctor Chukwuemeka Agi.

“Sope has a laceration while Austin suffered a very serious knee injury.

“For the others who were not admitted, we still have not given them the all clear as they are still being assessed.

“This is because in such cases, people usually experience cases of internal bleeding.”

Rivers United are third place on the NPFL log with three points behind leaders Wikki Tourists.
