Early Life And Education

Abdul Rahman, a Ghanaian Citizen, was born on July 2, 1994, in the vibrant city of Tamale. Growing up under the guidance of his parents, who prefer to maintain their privacy and be addressed as Mr and Mrs Rahman by the public eye, Abdul’s childhood remains shrouded in mystery, with no mention of any siblings.

His educational journey began at Our Lady of Fatima Junior High School, where he embarked on his first steps towards knowledge. Continuing his academic pursuits, Abdul later attended Young Dakpem’yili Junior High School in the bustling town of Tamale.

Baba Rahman’s career started at Dreams FC in the Ghana Division Two. Due to his outstanding performances, he was later loaned to Asante Kotoko in the Ghanaian Premier League for a season. In 2012, Rahman was a finalist for the Discovery of the Year Award in the league, but unfortunately, he lost to Joshua Oninku.

Rahman joined Greuther Fürth, a German Bundesliga club, in 2012 without any transfer fee. With his impressive performance, he became a regular starter for the team and played in 34 matches during his debut season. Additionally, Rahman played a significant role in Fürth’s success as they secured promotion to the Bundesliga in his second season with the club.

Rahman’s impressive performances in the Bundesliga caught the attention of several top European clubs, leading to his move to Chelsea in 2015 for a fee of £14 million, which could potentially rise to £22 million. He was initially expected to be the club’s first-choice left-back but unfortunately suffered a severe knee injury in only his second game, forcing him to sit out for the remainder of the season.

Over the next few years, Rahman embarked on loan spells at clubs like FC Schalke 04, Stade de Reims, RCD Mallorca, and Reading. Although he faced challenges in recovering his complete fitness and form, he displayed glimpses of his exceptional skill.

In July 2021, Rahman moved to the Greek Super League team PAOK on a free transfer. Since then, he has consistently appeared as a starter for the club, accumulating 54 appearances across two seasons and contributing to their victory in the Greek Cup in 2022.

After joining Ghana’s national team in 2014, Rahman participated in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, where Ghana became the second-place team. Furthermore, he was part of Ghana’s squad for both the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification.
